We have began to collect books that are useful for teaching specific strategies. There are a few we're still looking for and would like everyone to check their bookshelves for us. Some titles we're looking for include:
Something Beautiful
Night in the Country
Even Monsters Need Haircuts
Little Mouse's Big Secret
While we were out
Psst!
The Runaway Giant
The Orange Shoes
If you find these on your shelf and are not using them anymore we would really appreciate them in our school!
Thanks.

Daily Five at MES
There are currently 8 classrooms in our school using the Daily Five structure. Some have been using the Daily Five for approximately 3 years, while others have just started this year. We have found it to be very beneficial to our students learning and we have documented improved literacy levels in many of our students. We have set up this blog as a place to share ideas, accomplishments and struggles as we continue to use Daily Five in our classrooms. We have just recently started purchasing books that will help us teach the Daily Five CAFE strategies. Thanks to the continued support from our administration and resource team, we have successfully implemented this structure into our classrooms. We have had several outside divisions and schools drop in for classroom visits to see what it looks like and we have also had the opportunity to provide inservicing to other professionals interested in implementing the Daily Five.
